Just last week, on the one year anniversary of The Ascent, developer Neon Giant teased that the game will be getting more content. That new content has finally been revealed, in the form of the Cyber Heist DLC. The top-down shooter was one of the stand-out games from last year, primarily due to its stunning cyberpunk aesthetic and the tight shooting mechanics. These mechanics were further enhanced when The Ascent came to PlayStation and took advantage of the DualSense's features.

While the new DLC will be dropping on August 18, we still don't know all that much about it. What we do know is that it will feature a new main quest and side quests, a new Malhorst-Gelb owned arcology location, and of course new weapons. These new weapons will also include a whole new tier of melee weapons. The short glimpse we got at it in the announcement video revealed that these weapons will be capable of performing skill moves like spinning attacks etc.

The Cyber Heist DLC will be available for $10, and will launch at the same time for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The game came to PlayStation in March, along with a bunch of new features and improvements, primarily with regard to compatibility with the DualSense's haptic feedback technology. The developer had been quiet since the game's PlayStation launch in March, but considering the sheer size of the playable area, a story DLC seemed likely

Neon Giant co-founder Arcade Berg spoke to us about what these features brought to the game. "The fact that you can tie it into the sound design in a way [via the controller speakers] is a great way to get that step up in immersion and sense of quality," he said. "You’ll feel the controller react very well to explosions, but also subtler things like you reloading a gun."

In fact, at the time, we also asked him if the game would be getting any more story content. He didn't reveal anything back then, but he told us that he and the team is always "exploring what can be done in the future with The Ascent, so pay attention."
